MARQUETTE, MI--   Lakeshore Boulevard from East Crescent Street to the Island in Marquette remains closed, as city officials clean up sand and debris from the roadway.

High waves pounded the route Tuesday, eroding the beach and flooding the parking lot at Picnic Rocks Park.

City officials are asking the public to refrain from walking or biking in the area during the cleanup process. They say it’s being treated as an active construction site to protect the wellbeing of both workers and the public.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
