Marquette collecting scrap tires in August

MARQUETTE, MI--   The City of Marquette is collecting scrap tires next month.

The city received a grant from the Department of Environmental Quality and is partnering with the Marquette County Solid Waste Management Authority. Residents can bring scrap tires to the compost/rubbish site on Pioneer Road on Wednesday, August 1 from 3 to 7 p.m. Individual residents may bring as many car and truck tires that are 22.5 inches in diameter or less as they like. Larger tires, tractor tires, and tires on split rims will not be accepted.

Because of the special collection, household rubbish drop-off will not be available August 1.

For more information, call the Marquette Public Works Department at 228-0444.
