Volunteers invited to help Marquette beaches

MARQUETTE, MI--   Volunteers are needed to help stabilize and clean up Marquette beaches next week.

The Superior Watershed Partnership and Great Lakes Conservation Corps are hosting a restoration event next Thursday at Clark Lambros Park. The GLCC will teach volunteers how to plant beach grass. Others will collect litter. Officials say the grass will help stabilize sand dunes and removing trash will keep it from washing into the lake as autumn waves get stronger.

The event takes place from noon to 3 p.m. The SWP will provide planting tools, trash bags, work gloves, extra water, and snacks for volunteers. Masks are required.
