Big Bay Dash for Trash takes place May 6

POWELL TOWNSHIP, MI— Residents will compete and help clean up their neighborhoods during the second annual Big Bay Dash for Trash on May 6th.

Participants can register individually or as a team at Draver park anytime between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. After cleaning up their favorite spot, dashers will return to the park and have their bags of trash counted for points. Those who take the most bags to the Powell Township transfer station will win prizes.

Along with the dash, the transfer station will waive fees on the drop-off of multiple large items on May 6th only. Powell Township residents must obtain a pass from the township hall by Monday, May 1st.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
