Copper Harbor to host 2nd annual Dark Sky Festival

COPPER HARBOR, MI— The Keweenaw Dark Sky Park in Copper Harbor is hosting the second annual Dark Sky Festival in April.

The event at the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge will include stargazing presentations by industry professionals, photography, guided hikes, and history lessons.

Jesse Wiederhold is the public relations and events coordinator for Visit Keweenaw. He says last year it was cloudy during the entire festival, so officials are anticipating better skies this time around.

“You know, it is that busier time of the year for the solar system, between April and across the summer into fall, when it kind of picks up more in activity. So, we’re really hoping for some clearer skies this year. You know, adding the extra day you’ll have an extra night. Hopefully, people will have more chance to see the aurora this year.”

The Dark Sky Festival takes place April 11th through the 13th. More information is available at www.keweenawmountainlodge.com.
