ALLOUEZ TOWNSHIP, MI— The Nature Conservancy and Michigan DNR are holding a meeting to update the public on the Keweenaw Heartlands Project.
In 2022, TNC purchased more than 32,000 acres of forest in Keweenaw County. The aim is long-term protection of the forest and public enjoyment of recreational opportunities.
TNC and the DNR will share updates on progress towards transition of the Heartlands into both state and local public entity governance and management.
The meeting takes place Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Allouez Township Community Center.
