ONTONAGON COUNTY, MI— Upgrades at the power station will affect recreational opportunities near the Victoria Dam in Ontonagon County.
Upper Peninsula Power Company says starting Monday, 6/17, the hydroelectric generation powerhouse will be taken offline for the work. Through mid-November, water from the dam will be routed around the powerhouse via the existing bypass and spillway.
That will cause the North Country Trail to become inaccessible where it crosses the west branch of the Ontonagon River. Fishing opportunities will also be unavailable immediately downstream of the powerhouse.
UPPCO reminds the public to obey all posted warning signs at all times.
