EGLE watershed grants to benefit UP groups

LANSING, MI— Two Upper Peninsula organizations are getting funding from the state Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy for watershed-related projects.

Watershed Council Support grants aim to help organizations with conservation and educational efforts.

Among the activities funded are organizational and administrative support for watershed organizations, outreach and educational activities, design and installation of best management practices to improve water quality, and developing watershed management plan elements.

The Marquette County Road Commission is getting $39,553 and the Dickinson Conservation District $39,973.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
