Hiawatha National Forest offering Christmas tree and bough permits

GLADSTONE, MI— Permits are now available both for Christmas trees and commercial bough collection at the Hiawatha National Forest.

Christmas tree permits can be secured at www.recreation.gov. The website also contains information about designated cutting areas, dates, and types of trees that may be cut.

Conifer bough permits are also available for purchase in Rapid River, Munising, and St. Ignace Monday through Friday. A minimum purchase of two tons is required. Each permit holder will be designated a section for collection, and those areas will be distributed on a first come, first served basis.

More information about permits can be found here.
