Gwinn school district receives grant for propane school bus

GWINN, MI— Gwinn Area Community Schools has received funding through the Michigan Department of Education’s Clean Bus Energy Grant program.

The district was given $52,816. It will use the money to purchase a propane bus, which produces significantly lower greenhouse gas emissions than diesel or gasoline buses.

The grant was part of $125 million given to 23 schools and districts across the state for 87 electric and 10 propane buses.

Officials say the new grants are the latest step in a clean-power transition for Michigan school transportation.
