Ice breaking activity taking place near Escanaba

ESCANABA, MI— The U.S. Coast Guard is warning recreationists to be careful on the ice near Escanaba over the next few days.

Officials say commercial ice-breaking operations, in support of an expected vessel arrival, are scheduled to take place through Wednesday.

The Coast Guard is reminding all recreational ice users to plan their activities carefully, use caution on the ice, and stay away from areas where ice-breaking operations are underway.
