Lower Harbor ice unsafe, Marquette officials say

MARQUETTE, MI— The Marquette Fire Department is telling people to stay off the ice in the Lower Harbor.

Officials say ice conditions and thickness are highly unstable at this time and can change rapidly, even within hours. What looks solid may fail without warning.

One person apparently fell through the ice Monday morning but was able to get themselves out. Officials say they are safe.

Anyone with questions can call the Marquette City Fire Department.
