Flooded stream creates snowmobiling hazard west of Michigamme

BARAGA COUNTY, MI— The Department of Natural Resources is warning snowmobilers about a hazard on Trail No. UP8 in Baraga County.

Officials say Tuesday night, a stream 8.4 miles west of Michigamme unexpectedly rose and overflowed its banks. Water continues to cross the trail. A groomer became stuck at the location early Wednesday morning.

DNR trail officials are advising snowmobilers to proceed with caution, slow down in the area and stay to the high side of the trail. Hazard cones have been placed to define the place where water has overflowed onto the trail.
