HOUGHTON, MI— Michigan Tech is one of five organizations to receive a grant through the MI Healthy Climate Challenge #4: Go Big, Go Clean.
The initiative aims to accelerate the clean energy transition by supporting feasibility studies about practical, near-term decarbonization methods in Michigan industry. It also identifies the technologies, conditions, and support needed to achieve deeper emissions reductions over time.
The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy awarded nearly $1.9 million to five organizations as part of the challenge. Michigan Tech received more than $276,000 to assess low-carbon cement production in partnership with Amrize’s cement plant in Monroe County.
