Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. honored at NMU

MARQUETTE, MI--   Northern Michigan University is celebrating the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. this week.

At 1:30 p.m. the Volunteer Center is holding a Day of Service. Participants will create dog toys out of old T-shirts and donate them to UPAWS. Volunteers head to the U.P. Children’s Museum at 2:15 to read diversity and civil rights books to kids, or whatever else the museum needs help with.

And this year’s Diversity Common Reader book, Redefining Realness, will be handed out free to currently enrolled students Friday from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Hedgcock Atrium.
