U.P. Pink Power holding 17-mile fundraising walk this weekend

MARQUETTE COUNTY, MI— U.P. Pink Power is holding its biggest fundraiser of the year—a 17-mile walk—on Saturday.

The group strives to “pay it forward” across the Upper Peninsula by helping those who are fighting disease, tragedies, or illness of any kind.

Committee member Dawn Lambert says people will walk, run, or bike from Gary’s Knotty Pine in Arnold to the Up North Lodge events center in Gwinn. Participants will raise donations, which will be given to U.P. Pink Power for continued operations.

Lambert says it’s an electrifying day for those who take part.

“People have been doing this for so many years that they’ve come up with themes, they’ve come up with costumes, and it’s just about giving back.”

The event starts Saturday at 10 a.m. There will be several pitstops along the walk, offering food and beverages. Anyone can take part.

More information is at www.uppinkpower.com or at U.P. Pink Power on Facebook.
