MARQUETTE, MI— Upper Peninsula Rainbow Pride is holding Pride Fest ’24 in Marquette Saturday.
Volunteer coordinator Emily Snow says the event will offer an art and activities tent, puppet making, a drag story hour, live music, and an amateur drag show. At 8 p.m., a professional drag show with more adult content will be put on.
Snow says the festival promotes a message of safety, acceptance, and visibility.
“Pride Month is incredibly important, not only to show those who might still be in the closet that there are others like them out there, but it’s also incredibly important for us to be able to commemorate our history and show that we are allowed to be here and belong here.”
Snow says the festival is for everyone, no matter if you identify as LGBTQ or as an ally.
Pride Fest takes place Saturday from 1 to 10:30 p.m. at Mattson Lower Harbor Park.
