More than 33,000 participate in Labor Day Bridge Walk

Mackinac Bridge Authority

ST. IGNACE, MI— It was a good turnout for the 2025 Mackinac Bridge Walk.

More than 33,000 people walked the five-mile span during the annual Labor Day event. That’s roughly 3,000 more than last year.

The bridge closed at 6:30 a.m. and participants started their walks from both St. Ignace and Mackinaw City. The Mighty Mac reopened promptly at noon.

The bridge walk has been an annual event since 1958, with the exception of 2020, when it was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2025 walk was the 67th event.

In recent years, crowds ranged from 21,000 to 35,000.
