Marquette fire department investigating early morning fire

Marquette, MI – The Marquette City Fire Department is investigation an early morning fire on West Ohio Street. Crews were dispatched at 5:18 this morning to the 100 block of West Ohio Street to find visible smoke and fire on the first floor of the three-story residential home. Officials say all residents had evacuated the building safely. The fire was declared under control at 5:24am, and crews cleared the scene at 7:11am.

         The Marquette City Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the Marquette City Police department, Marquette Township Fire Department, Chocolay Township Fire Department, UPHS Unit 141, and Marquette Board of Light and Power.

         The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
