Multiple departments called to Chocolay Township on Friday, no injuries reported

CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP, MI— Crews were able to stop a structure fire before it spread to other homes in Chocolay Township Friday.

WLUC-TV reports it started around 11:30 a.m. in a pool house on Penny Way. Chocolay Township Fire Chief Lee Gould said flames then made their way to the home, igniting trees along the way.

He said there were no hydrants in the area, so officials had to call in tankers from other fire departments to get additional water on site.

The homeowner and all pets made it out of the house without injury. None of the more than 35 personnel at the scene were hurt, either.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
