ASSOCIATED PRESS - The daily possession limit for brook trout will increase next spring for five stream segments in the Upper Peninsula.
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources said Wednesday the possession limit will rise from five fish to 10 fish for those river sections. The rule will take effect April 1.
The DNR says the move is an experiment in response to angler requests to allow a higher take of brook trout in the U.P.
Affected stream segments and their tributaries include the Dead River in Marquette County, the Driggs River in Schoolcraft County, the east branch of the Ontonagon River in Houghton and Iron counties, the east branch of the Tahquamenon River in Chippewa County, and the east branch of the Huron River in Baraga and Marquette counties.
