Dianda to MDOT: give locals first shot at equipment

LANSING, MI--   State Representative Scott Dianda has introduced a bill requiring the Michigan Department of Transportation to give local governments first dibs on buying snow removal equipment.

Dianda says some municipalities are using snow plows from the 1970s.  The bill would make sure local units of government have the chance to bid on equipment on the Mi-Bid auction site before it’s offered to the general public.

This is a reintroduction of a bill that passed the House in the last legislative session, but didn’t get a chance to go to the Senate or Governor.
