LANSING, MI (AP)-- The Michigan House has approved a $37.9 billion budget bill covering all non-education state spending in the fiscal year starting in five months.
The plan OK'd mostly along party lines Tuesday would largely follow what Republican Governor Rick Snyder proposed. The House broke from Snyder, however, and voted to discontinue moviemaking incentives and cut revenue sharing to Detroit.
It's an initial vote before lawmakers and Snyder negotiate a deal in May after getting new revenue projections.
Majority Republicans say it's a responsible budget that would hold down spending and reduce debt.
Democrats criticize an amendment prohibiting funds to Planned Parenthood and unsuccessfully tried stopping Senators' move into a nicer office building.
