Local homeless programs across Michigan awarded about $13.9M

WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded roughly $13.9 million to local homeless housing and service programs across Michigan.
The department said in a news release that the Continuum of Care grants were awarded Monday. According to the department, the grants build upon the roughly $56.1 million in funding that was awarded by HUD in Michigan through a first round of funding in March.
HUD Secretary Julian Castro said in the release that "these grants support local programs that are proven to prevent and end homelessness as we've come to know it."

You can also hear Hans as the local host of NPR's All Things Considered news magazine. He also helps manage Public Radio 90's web content, interviews local and visiting writers and artists, works with NMU student interns, and writes the occasional news story.
