House committee passes ORV licensing bill

LANSING, MI— A state House committee has voted in support of a bill that would eliminate the sunset of Michigan’s ORV licensing program.

Sponsored by 109th District Representative Jenn Hill, the legislation received unanimous support by the House Committee on Transportation, Mobility, and Infrastructure.

An ORV license is required to ride eligible county roads, the frozen surface of public waters, state forest roads, and eligible national forest roads.

Fees from the program are used to fund trail grooming and infrastructure improvement. It’s scheduled to end on December 31.
