Newberry, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is investing approximately $1.5 million to repair and rebuild two Alger County bridges. The projects will include superstructure replacement, end header replacement, deck patching, substructure repair, and approach work on US-41 bridges over the West Branch of Whitefish River and Huber Creek.
Traffic will be detoured via M-67 and M-94 during work on the West Branch of the Whitefish River bridge. This detour is scheduled to end by August 15. One alternating lane for local traffic only will be open on US-41 during work on the Huber Creek bridge. The work will extend the lifespan of the structures and increase safety for motorists.
The projects are expected to directly and indirectly support 14 jobs.
