Emily DeSalvo once again offered Delta County Administrator job

ESCANABA, MI— After she was fired from the post in 2023, Emily DeSalvo has been offered the position of Delta County Administrator once again.

DeSalvo was fired by a 3-2 vote after she claimed some commissioners displayed unethical behavior.

Bob Barron, who was recalled from the Delta County Board last year, spoke against her hiring at this week’s meeting. He said DeSalvo wanted to get fired so she could get a severance package.

“With the direct help of John Malnar, [she] goaded the board into firing her with her 11-minute manifesto as a disgruntled, insubordinate employee, degrading and attacking three of her five bosses. This was done for her ego and with the help of John Malnar to fleece the county—Delta County taxpayers of 50 thousand-plus dollars.”

The board unanimously approved offering DeSalvo the job. The county will draw up a contract and beginning salary before negotiations with DeSalvo start.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
