Carney says opening of Canada-US bridge may take 'a little longer'

TORONTO (AP) — Canada's Prime Minister Mark Carney says a new bridge across the Detroit River that U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to block may take longer to open than anticipated. Speaking yesterday (Wednesday), Carney said there is “no big drama’” but if it takes a little bit longer it will. A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the ‘Gordie Howe International Bridge’, which is jointly owned by Canada and the U.S. state of Michigan, is set to take place tomorrow (Friday), while the bridge itself may not open to traffic immediately. Carney said Tuesday that a second bridge, between Windsor and Detroit, would “be open at the end of the week.”
