Food Harvest Gathering begins in Gogebic County

IRONWOOD, MI— Michigan State Police from the Wakefield Post are helping to feed area residents with food insecurity.

Troopers are assisting in the annual Food Harvest Gathering through October 28th. People are encouraged to donate money or non-perishable food, which will go to local pantries.

Donations can be dropped off at the Wakefield Post Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., or residents can get a $10 bag of food for $5 at Super One Foods in Ironwood.

Officials say the drive has gotten off to a great start with a $10,000 private donation and a $3,000 donation from the Lac Vieux Desert Band of Lake Superior Chippewa in Watersmeet.
