Stamp Out Hunger on May 13th

MARQUETTE, MI— Marquette letter carriers will help collect food for those who need it this coming Saturday.

“Stamp Out Hunger” is the nation’s largest single-day food drive. Residents are asked to leave a sturdy bag containing non-perishable food—like canned soup, canned vegetables, pasta, rice, or cereal—next to their mailbox before their regular delivery time on May 13. Items should be in non-breakable containers, like boxes or cans.

Letter carriers across the county will collect the donations. They’ll be delivered to pantries like the Salvation Army, St. Vincent de Paul, Room at the Inn, the Janzen House, and the Women’s Center.

Officials say “Stamp Out Hunger” comes at a time when pantries are running low and school meal programs will be suspended for the summer.
