Judge Ninomiya appointed to child abuse task force

IRON MOUNTAIN, MI— Governor Gretchen Whitmer has appointed an Upper Peninsula judge to the state’s Task Force on Child Abuse and Neglect.

Chris Ninomiya of Iron Mountain is a 41st Circuit Court Judge serving Dickinson, Menominee, and Iron counties. Judge Ninomiya is appointed to represent criminal court judges for a term starting January 1st and expiring December 31st, 2026.

The task force is comprised of professionals with knowledge and experience relating to the criminal justice system and issues of child physical abuse, child neglect, child sexual abuse and exploitation, and child maltreatment-related fatalities.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
