Gwinn students bring awareness to suicide prevention

GWINN, MI--   Gwinn High School is holding a walk this weekend to combat suicide.

The third Tuesday of every month is designated as “P.S. I Love You” day, where students and staff wear purple as a sign of support for those battling depression.

A Facebook page for the day says, "Telling someone 'P.S. I Love You' can change their day from being horrible to amazing, and can even save their life.? Spread the Love. "

As an extension of that day the Gwinn Youth Advisory Council received a $500 grant from the Marquette County Substance Abuse and Violence Prevention Coalition to hold a walk.

The “P.S. I Love You Suicide Prevention Walk takes place Saturday at 10 a.m. at the high school.  The entire community is invited to wear purple and participate.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
