MARQUETTE, MI-- A hospice house for the Central U.P. is more than halfway to its $2.5 million fundraising goal with a $100,000 donation pledge by UP Health System.
Trillium House is designed to help the end-of-life patient when the caregiver needs a break, those where care at home can no longer be done, and homeless patients.
Trillium House Board President Dr. Dan Mazzuchi says the 9,000-square-foot facility will have eight rooms. He says the $2.5 million price tag includes purchase of the property in southern Marquette, construction of the building, equipment, furnishings, and an operating fund for the first year it’s open.
Mazzuchi says officials won’t break ground until the project is 90 percent funded. Groundbreaking to occupancy should take about nine months.
