New Marquette County fund will help during coronavirus crisis

MARQUETTE, MI--   The United Way of Marquette County has partnered with the Community Foundation of Marquette County to help those struggling during the coronavirus pandemic.

The two groups have created a COVID-19 Community Response Fund to support nonprofits that are serving vulnerable populations during this unprecedented time.

Sue Minckler is the Executive Assistant at the United Way of Marquette County. She says money donated will be used in a number of ways.

“It will be used to help fund non-profits who are helping people through this time of crisis. For example, it will buy a thermometer for a hospice house, personal protection equipment for people with disabilities, food for kids who are out of school,” she says.

To donate to the fund or apply as a nonprofit for funding go to the Community Foundation of Marquette County website at www.cfofmc.org.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
