Former NMU professor named to state Autism Council

LANSING, MI— A Marquette man has been named by Governor Gretchen Whitmer to the Michigan Autism Council.

Dr. Jacob Daar is an associate professor of psychology and director of the Behavior Education Assessment and Research center (BEAR) at Northern Michigan University. He’s a board-certified behavior analyst and has previously served as an assistant professor at Northern Michigan University.

Daar received a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and sociology from the University of South Florida, a Master of Arts in applied behavior analysis from the University of South Florida, and a Doctor of Philosophy in rehabilitation from Southern Illinois University.

Dr. Daar is reappointed to represent state universities for a term commencing October 24, 2024, and expiring September 30, 2028.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
