LANSING, MI— RNs with the Michigan Nurses Association will advocate for fair contracts and better work conditions Wednesday through April 15 by taking part in collective actions at seven locations around the state.
The events include rallies, practice strikes, and a legislative action day. The MNA says they will not be work stoppages. Nurses and community members will participate on their own time.
The week will be kicked off in Escanaba April 8, when nurses at OSF St. Francis Hospital present a petition to management. On April 10, Aspirus Keweenaw nurses will hold a rally at the Portage Lake Lift Bridge from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m.
On April 15, MNA Capitol Action Day will focus on healthcare professionals advocating for the passage of state Senate bills 296 and 297, which would end hospitals’ use of mandatory overtime for nurses, except under certain circumstances.
