Pilot program will guide Marquette County foundation on how to best spend federal dollars

MARQUETTE, MI— The Community Foundation of Marquette County has received a $100,000 state grant to help guide the disbursement of American Rescue Plan Act money.

The Statewide Equity Fund technical assistance grant comes through the Council of Michigan Foundations as part of a pilot program. It will be used to help the Foundation decide how the money will best be allocated to address issues in the county’s 2040 Master Plan, like childcare and homelessness.

Technical assistance providers will work with the Foundation and other agencies to gather information from the community, particularly from underrepresented groups. Marquette-based Grow & Lead: Youth and Community Development will help the Foundation gather public input.

Officials say the grant will help engage the community in identifying county-wide projects that will have the greatest long-term impact on everyone’s quality of life.
