Senior housing data released by Negaunee officials

NEGAUNEE, MI— The City of Negaunee has released the results of its Senior Housing Listening Sessions and Senior Housing Survey.

The listening sessions were held at the Negaunee Senior Center in April and May. They collected critical data for future developers who may want to construct senior housing in the area.

Of the responses, 90 percent wanted a one-story home or apartment, 100 percent wanted to live downtown, and 90 percent wanted to live near parks and services like the post office and senior center.

According to the survey, 40 percent see themselves moving into a duplex or senior housing, 95 percent plan to live in Negaunee year-round, and 41 percent can’t find a home to move into.

According to the latest Target Market Analysis report by LandUse USA, 47 percent of existing homeowners in Marquette County are above the age of 60.

Full results can be found at www.cityofnegaunee.com/housing.
