MARQUETTE, MI— The Superior Watershed Partnership has received a $1.57 million state grant to help low- and moderate-income residents with utility bills.
The SWP’s Energy & Climate Office received the grant from the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity. It will be used to expand heat, electric, water, and waste utility assistance for low and ALICE—or Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed residents in the U.P.
Households with incomes up to 150 percent of the Federal Poverty Level that have been approved for State Emergency Relief since October 1, 2024 may qualify for assistance with participating water and waste bills. Households with incomes between 151-percent and 300-percent FPL may qualify for heat, electric, water and waste with participating providers.
