Hancock's Puppy Parade to facilitate conversations about sexual assault

HANCOCK, MI— The Copper Shores Community Health Foundation is showing support for victims of sexual assault through its 5th Puppy Parade in Hancock on Thursday.

Michael Babcock is Director of Marketing and Donor Relations. He says the event was created to show solidarity for victims, provide information on how to help survivors, and teach people how to prevent sexual assault.

Babcock says it’s a fun, natural, and low-pressure way for people to get together to discuss an important topic.

“And when you’re having a really difficult conversation about things like sexual assault, it’s really nice to have the dog there to make you feel more comfortable and to just feel more connected with what you have going [on] around you.”

Check-in starts at 5 p.m. at Quincy Green. Advocates will be available to talk to participants and provide information about community resources. The parade itself starts at 7:30.

More information is at www.coppershores.org.
