$20,000 in grants headed to Copper Country food pantries

COPPER COUNTRY, MI— A partnership between the Copper Shores Community Health Foundation and Superior Health Foundation is benefitting food pantries in the Copper Country.

Each organization has contributed $10,000, which will be distributed among seven food pantries in the area.
The $20,000 in grants will be split among the following organizations:

Houghton and Keweenaw counties
CLK Food Pantry, Calumet - $4,500
Copper Country Angel Mission, Calumet - $2,000
Little Brothers - Friends of the Elderly, Hancock - $2,500

Baraga County
Sacred Heart St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry, L’Anse - $3,500
Keweenaw Bay Indian Community Commodity Food, Baraga - $2,000

Ontonagon County
Holy Family St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry, Ontonagon - $3,500
United Methodist Church, White Pine - $2,000

"This is a great collaboration with our friends at Superior Health Foundation,” said Kevin Store, President/CEO of Copper Shores. “We’re proud to support local food pantries in their efforts to better support our communities."

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
