Stamp Out Hunger via your mailbox this Saturday

MARQUETTE, MI— Marquette letter carriers will help fill area food pantries this Saturday.

For over 30 years, the Stamp Out Hunger effort has been the nation's largest single-day food drive, with more than 1.82 billion pounds of food collected.

Partner agency United Way of Marquette County says participants should place a sturdy bag of non-perishable food items next to their mailbox before their regular mail delivery on May 9. Suggested donations include canned soups and vegetables, pasta, rice, and cereal. All items must be in non-breakable containers, such as cans or boxes.

Letter carriers will collect the food, which will be distributed to food pantries, including the Salvation Army, St. Vincent de Paul, Room at the Inn, the Janzen House, and the Women’s Center.
