MARQUETTE, MI— Due to impacts from the ongoing winter weather event, City of Marquette offices will be closed on Monday, March 16 and business scheduled for that day will be postponed.

This will impact the Marquette City Commission regular meeting and work session, which were scheduled for the evening of March 16. Both meetings are cancelled, and updates will be shared regarding the rescheduling of the meetings.

City Police, Fire, and Public Works remain operational.

As always, please dial 911 if you have an emergency.

And, according to a release from the Marquette County Sheriff's Office, all Marquette County government offices are closed on Monday, March 16, 2026. Additionally, all court hearings and court appointments are cancelled on Monday. They will be rescheduled.

The Marquette County Sheriff's Office reminds the public that travel could be very difficult to impossible. Widespread blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. Strong winds could cause tree damage resulting in power outages.

Travel should be restricted to emergencies only. Vehicles traveling on the road and vehicles that are stuck will slow the process of clearing roads. If you must travel, have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded, stay with your vehicle and call 911.

The latest weather information can be found on the National Weather Service of Marquette's website. www.weather.gov/mqt
