No disaster declaration for Marquette County

MARQUETTE COUNTY, MI— As Marquette County transitions from emergency response to cleanup operations, Sheriff Greg Zyburt says residents who need assistance can call 211.

The county doesn’t meet the criteria for a state disaster declaration. That’s despite the fact that KI Sawyer received a record-shattering 54 inches of snow. Residents are still facing challenges that fall outside the purview of state assistance.

Zyburt says the county has partnered with 211, the Superior Watershed Partnership, and the Community Foundation of Marquette County to provide help for the elderly and those with special needs. Dial 211 to request support.
