MDOT starts road work in UP this and next week

MARQUETTE, MI— Several UP road and bridge projects are slated to begin in the next few weeks.

Work on the M-64 bridges over the Floodwood River and Halfway Creek begins Monday, 4/25/22. The Michigan Department of Transportation is spending $4.9 million to rebuild four bridges in Iron and Ontonagon Counties. The estimated completion date is October 27.

And MDOT and the City of Munising are spending about $15.5 million to rebuild 4.7 miles of M-28 between Brook Street and Commercial Street, and resurface the highway from Commercial Street to east of Christmas. The project starts next Monday and is slated to be completed in August.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
