HOUGHTON/HANCOCK, MI— Elevator replacement work on the Portage Lake Lift Bridge will require a sidewalk closure.
Starting Monday and continuing for about the next six weeks, the northbound sidewalk will be closed with a posted pedestrian detour.
The work is part of a $4.3 million Michigan Department of Transportation project to replace bridge elevators and install false decking under one bridge span. The decking work was completed last year.
