LANSING, MI— Municipalities and a transit system in four U.P. counties are getting more than $1.3 million in funding from the Michigan Shared Streets and Spaces Grant program.
The program supports quick-build projects that improve plazas, sidewalks, curbs, streets, bus stops, parking areas, and other public spaces in support of public health, safe mobility, and strengthened commerce.
- The City of Escanaba is getting $200,000 for the Ludington Complete Street project.
- Houghton will receive $200,000 for improvements to Bridgeview Park.
- The City of Hancock is getting $200,000 for an Elevation Street sidewalk connector.
- Caspian will get $200,000 to make improvements to the Apple Blossom Trail.
- The City of Iron River has been allotted $200,000 for replacement of the Apple Blossom trail boardwalk.
- The Marquette County Transit Authority has been awarded $196,753 for a school, park, and transit connection at KI Sawyer.
- The City of Negaunee is getting $200,000 for Phase 2 of its Downtown Enhancement Project.
The program is administered by the Michigan Department of Transportation in partnership with the Michigan Office of Future Mobility and Electrification.
