MDOT studies Wakefield intersection for signal possibility

WAKEFIELD, MI— An intersection in Wakefield is changing, as officials evaluate it for a possible traffic signal.

Beginning Thursday, the US-2/M-28 intersection will become a four way stop. The traffic signal will flash red for all directions, and stop signs with advance warnings will be in place.

Drivers should be aware of the change in the traffic pattern and use appropriate caution.

The study is scheduled to be completed in November. It’s evaluating the safety and operational performance of the intersection, including a detailed analysis to determine if a traffic signal is warranted.

The study will determine the most appropriate intersection configuration prior to a planned US-2 rebuilding project in the area.
