US-2/M-28 signal to be removed Dec. 17 as traffic study in Wakefield ends

MDOT

WAKEFIELD, MI— The signal at an intersection in Wakefield will be removed, following a study by the Michigan Department of Transportation.

A detailed study evaluating the safety and operational performance of the US-2/M-28 intersection is complete. MDOT determined it does not warrant a traffic signal. The current all-way stop condition will remain in effect.

Beginning around 7 a.m. on Tuesday, December 17, crews will remove the signal. The work will require closing the intersection intermittently, along with lane closures and traffic regulators. The Michigan State Police will be on hand to assist with traffic control.
