HOUGHTON/HANCOCK, MI— The Michigan Department of Transportation needs to conduct test bridge lifts in Houghton/Hancock next week.
MDOT will perform electrical work on the Portage Lake Lift Bridge, requiring the lifts. They will happen at night (10 p.m. - 6 a.m.) Monday, December 16, through the morning of Thursday, December 19.
The lifts are planned to last 15 to 20 minutes each. Between lifts, traffic will be allowed to clear. Resulting closures will affect vehicle, pedestrian, and bicycle traffic.
The schedule is weather-dependent and may be adjusted.
